This is an open invitation for anyone who wishes to join us for a day of singing. Maybe you haven’t sung in a choir since school. Maybe you would like to sing with a choir but don’t have the time for a regular commitment. Maybe you are thinking of joining us would like to find out more about what makes Nayland choir so special. Maybe you’re already in Nayland Choir or any other choir and just want a bit more singing in your life…

Whatever your circumstances, if you can follow along on a musical score (you don’t need to sing from sight), you would be very welcome. Run by Nayland Choir, our musical director, Emma Bishton, will lead the day and our regular accompanist, Mary Blanchard, will be playing for us. We like to think that we are a friendly group and will be very pleased to see you.

Why ‘Musical Postcards’? As it will be Summer holiday season, we will be singing songs linked to places around the UK and beyond, in a mixture of musical genres and styles.

How will the day be organised? We will start at 10.00 am, there will be breaks for lunch and coffee. We will finish with an informal performance (which friends and family can attend) at 3.30 pm, finishing at 4.00 pm.

How much will it cost? Tickets will be £15.00. This includes tea/ coffee and cake but you will need to provide your own lunch.

Summer concert

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our concert on 26th June, braving the fierce heat and our evolving plans to cope with it. We really appreciate having such a loyal and enthusiastic audience and we hope that you enjoyed our tour of operatic history! We look forward to welcoming you to our next concert on 6th December (when we probably won’t be worrying about being too hot…) and/ or to our Come and Sing on 18th July – everyone welcome so why not give it a try? Further information and links to tickets on this website.

Emma is incredible and she put together another outstanding programme and encouraged us at every turn through a huge variety of music.  Mary did an amazing job as our accompanist, of course, with some wonderful dramatic flourishes! Our guest musicians were such a wonderful addition – the violin and piano pieces were beautiful and the violin and percussion added real drama to our singing. As for the singing, thanks go to all of the choir but especially to the soloists: we are really lucky to have so many talented – and brave – choir members. Thank you to Nayland church for providing us with an alternative and slightly cooler venue and for everyone who helped with the food, the bar, the chairs and tables and all the other behind the scenes roles which were more important than ever given the challenging workaround with the weather.
