The concert will take place at Nayland Village Hall.
On December 10th, we will be singing the Manchester Carols, a re-telling of the Christmas story with music by Sasha Johnson Manning and words by Carol Ann Duffy. We’ll pair that with a couple of other Christmas pieces and maybe even a bit of audience participation. We plan to have an interval for mulled wine and mince pies in there somewhere too.
Rehearsals start on Thursday 7th September in Nayland School hall, 8pm as usual. The first rehearsal will be an open session (non Christmas themed) for anyone that would like to come and see what the choir is all about. We’ve already had a few enquiries after our last concert, so if you know anyone else who’d like to give us a try, do send them along.
The subs for the term are £40 including score hire and they become payable on your third rehearsal.
Thank you to everyone who came to our sold-out concert ‘Songs of Liberty’ on July 14th!
Next term, we will be preparing for another Christmas concert on December 10th, but this time a warm one in the village hall. More about the music for that in due course but most importantly we start the term with an open rehearsal on September 7th when we will sing a variety of pieces (not Christmas ones!) with the aim of welcoming potential choir members to join us.
If you’d like to try out singing in parts, please do come along!

Secure your seat for our forthcoming performance of Fauré’s beautiful Requiem. Tickets (£10/U18s free) are now available on the Nayland Events website.
This spring, we return to one of the most requested pieces in the choir’s repertoire. For the first time since 2012, we will be performing Fauré’s much-loved Requiem. You can be part of it! We don’t audition and our music director Emma brings out the best in even the most nervous chorister. Rehearsals are every Thursday at 8.00pm in Nayland School. You can even try one or two rehearsals to see whether it’s right for you. See you there?
Tickets are selling fast for our wonderful Christmas tour across styles and centuries. Our concert features pieces written for church use, and carols derived from folk tunes. We start with music that echoes the simplicity of plainchant, and finish off with a new setting of an intriguing old Christmas recipe…and while some of the music may be less well known, but others will be very familiar! Make sure of your seat by booking now, at Nayland Events or from Nayland Post Office. See you there!
Our next concert will be on Sunday 11 December. We’ll be conducting a musical tour of Europe, singing the best Christmas songs from across the centuries. Rehearsals start on Thursday 8 September at 8.00pm in Nayland School.
Subscriptions are £40 for the term including score hire. The first two rehearsals are free to try out.
